Anastacia Newkirk is the singer´s real name. She was born on 17 September 1973 in Chicago, USA. Her mother was an actress, and her father was a singer. In the early 1990s, Anastacia was a dancer on MTV and a few pop videos. In 1999, she was taking part in an MTV talent competition called The Cut when a record company saw her and offered her a contract. Sher released her fisrt album, Not that kind, in 2000.

The song Left outside alone reached number three in the UK charts in April 2004. It´s from her third album, just called Anastacia.
